The Tennessee Titans have confirmed that veteran edge rusher Lorenzo Carter has decided to retire, just a day before the start of training camp.
Carter, aged 29, joined the Titans on a one-year contract for the 2025 season.
“He informed us of his retirement yesterday,” stated Titans general manager Mile Borgonzi in the announcement, “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Carter spent seven seasons in the NFL, initially drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft from Georgia.
After four seasons with the Giants, he moved to his hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons, for the final three seasons of his career.
Carter started 62 of his 96 career games in the NFL, establishing himself as a regular starter with the Giants.

During his four years with the Giants, Carter accumulated 153 combined tackles, 14.5 sacks, one interception, 15 passes defended, five forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
Following his Giants tenure, he signed a series of contracts with the Falcons, including a two-year deal worth $9 million.

In his last season, Carter played 13 games and started 11, registering 32 combined tackles and no sacks for the Falcons.
With Carter’s retirement, the Titans currently have seven edge rushers on their roster: Arden Key, Dre’Mont Jones, Femi Oladejo, Jaylen Harrell, Ali Gaye, Titus Leo, and Desmond Evans.
