Paige Spiranac has faced criticism on social media regarding her golf game, self-promotion, and on-course attire.

She’s known for standing her ground.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Spiranac reiterated her stance against critics who try to dictate her on-course attire.

“I always advocate for being true to yourself,” she stated. “My message is simple – wear what makes you comfortable and reflects your personal style.”

Spiranac was once a standout golfer at San Diego State, deciding not to pursue a professional career but instead becoming a social media sensation.

She explained to Sports Illustrated that her background as a gymnast led her to wear form-fitting clothing, which she continued on the golf course due to financial constraints.

“I felt comfortable in tank tops and leggings, but it stirred controversy with complaints about the lack of traditional golf attire,” Spiranac shared.

“As an athlete, I prioritize comfort and confidence in what I wear. I want young girls to feel empowered and proud of their bodies, contrary to societal pressures to cover up,” she added.

In a previous incident in July 2023, Spiranac criticized the double standards in reactions to a video showing shirtless male baseball players receiving praise while she faced backlash for her attire.
