Dana White, the head of the UFC, paid tribute to wrestling legend Hulk Hogan following his passing in Florida.

White shared a memory of Hogan’s appearance at the Republican National Convention on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime.” He recalled a private conversation with Hogan backstage before they were set to go on stage.

“Hulk Hogan took me aside for a private chat,” White said. “I will always remember the conversation we had that night.

“He was a remarkable man. He had a special love for the president and for America.”

White credited Hogan, along with Muhammad Ali, Don King, and others from the world of combat sports and entertainment, for influencing the development of the UFC.

Clearwater police responded to a call for a cardiac arrest at Hogan’s residence. The pro wrestler was taken to the hospital and passed away shortly after. Hogan was 71.

Hogan’s death had a profound impact on the sports entertainment community. White was among the many who honored the WWE icon throughout the day.

WWE released a statement expressing sadness over Hogan’s passing. The statement highlighted Hogan’s role in helping WWE gain global recognition in the 1980s.

A statement was also posted on Hogan’s Instagram page, confirming his passing and asking for privacy for his family and friends.

Hogan was a larger-than-life figure who left a lasting impact on pro wrestling, from his iconic match against Andre the Giant to his time with the New World Order in WCW.

He held multiple championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame both as an individual and as part of the NWO. He also found success in other wrestling promotions.
