A team from Venezuela’s Little League will not be able to compete in the Senior Little League World Series as their travel visas to the United States were rejected.

The Cacique Mara team, hailing from Maracaibo, Venezuela, had earned a spot in the tournament after winning the Latin American championship in Mexico.

Unfortunately, due to travel restrictions imposed on Venezuela and 12 other countries by President Donald Trump, the team was unable to obtain the necessary visas to enter the U.S.

The Senior League Baseball World Series, which caters to players aged 13-16, is held annually in Easley, South Carolina, and is set to commence this Saturday.

“The Cacique Mara Little League team from Venezuela was regrettably unable to secure the required visas to travel to the Senior League Baseball World Series,” stated Little League International, expressing disappointment for the young athletes.

The organizers of the tournament substituted the Venezuelan team with the Santa Maria de Aguayo team from Tamaulipas, Mexico, the runners-up in the Latin American championship.

The Venezuelan team had traveled to Colombia two weeks ago to apply for their visas at the U.S. embassy in Bogotá.

No immediate response was received from the White House when asked for comment.
