Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, confidently stated to Gen Z activists at the Voters of Tomorrow summit that Democrats will win back the House in 2026.

“We are certain that we will secure the House of Representatives in the upcoming election,” Pelosi exclaimed, receiving applause from the audience. She reiterated her confidence by saying “No doubt” once again in response to the cheers.

The veteran California lawmaker also expressed her belief that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., would become the speaker of the House after the 2026 midterms.

While Pelosi expressed confidence in the Democrats’ prospects, she also stressed the importance of preparation. She attributed the Democrats’ victories in 2006 and 2018 to early preparation and emphasized the need for a similar approach in 2026.

“It’s crucial to be proactive a year in advance, as that’s when the pieces fall into place. We have our messaging, mobilization, and funding ready, but it all comes together when we have the right candidate,” she stated.

However, Pelosi believes that another crucial factor for Democrats’ success is lowering President Donald Trump’s approval rating. She described Trump’s current numbers as “terrible.”

“By October — certainly by November, but by October, we will have — with the help of so many people working — we’ll have taken what’s his name’s numbers down,” Pelosi declared.

A recent Fox News Poll found that 46% of voters approve of Trump’s performance, while 54% disapprove. This is consistent with last month’s numbers and better than 8 years ago when only 41% approved.

The Voters of Tomorrow summit features prominent speakers alongside Pelosi, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., and David Hogg. Harris and Raskin are scheduled to address the group virtually.
