President Donald Trump pointed the finger at former President Bill Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers when questioned about the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case.

This statement from Trump came after U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell in Florida amidst increased scrutiny of the case following the decision by the Trump administration not to release investigation materials related to Epstein.

“You should be focusing on Larry Summers. You should be looking into some of his hedge fund associates,” Trump told reporters as he left for Scotland. “They’re all connected. You should be talking about Bill Clinton.”

Trump went on to accuse Clinton of visiting Epstein’s private island, which the financier used as a hub for his sex-trafficking activities. Trump emphasized that he had never been to the island himself.

On the other hand, Clinton has also denied ever visiting the island. In his 2024 memoir “Citizen,” Clinton stated that he had never been to the island and expressed regret over ever meeting Epstein.

Representatives for Summers and Clinton did not respond immediately when asked for comment.

Summers previously held positions as treasury secretary under Clinton and as the director of the National Economic Council under former President Barack Obama.

Trump’s comments come in the midst of backlash from some conservatives following the DOJ and FBI’s announcement in July that they would not be releasing new documents related to the Epstein sex trafficking case, and that their review of Epstein was closed.

Furthermore, the agencies stated that they did not find a list of sexual predators linked to Epstein and concluded that there were no new individuals who could be charged.

Trump has been attempting to suppress interest in the Epstein case, stating that there is no new credible information to share with the public.

“He’s been deceased for quite some time. He was never a major influence in life. I don’t understand the continued interest or fascination. The credible information has already been provided,” Trump stated on July 14.

Blanche, following his meeting with Maxwell on Thursday, announced plans to continue the interview on Friday and promised to provide more details later on.

“Today, I met with Ghislaine Maxwell, and I will continue my interview of her tomorrow,” Blanche stated in a Thursday post. “The Department of Justice will share additional information about what we learned at the appropriate time.”

Meanwhile, Maxwell has been convicted on charges related to sex trafficking of a minor and is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
