Aric Almirola criticizes Austin Hill after NASCAR Xfinity Series wreck

During the Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers Austin Hill and Aric Almirola were involved in a serious wreck. Hill and Almirola collided while coming around a turn with 10 laps remaining in the race. The incident resulted in both drivers spinning out and making contact with the wall.

Almirola suffered a hard impact with the wall, while Hill spun in the grass and also made contact with the wall. Hill was penalized with a five-lap penalty for his involvement in the crash. Despite claiming it was unintentional, Almirola disagreed with Hill’s explanation.

Almirola expressed that the crash was reminiscent of a previous incident in 2017 where he had sustained injuries. He described the impact as violent and likened it to the feeling of breaking his back.

Team owner Richard Childress defended Hill, arguing against a potential suspension. Childress referenced past incidents involving other drivers and suggested bias in NASCAR’s decision-making.

Connor Zilisch emerged victorious in the race following the crash involving Hill and Almirola.
