An urgent search is currently underway after a tragic incident at an Arkansas state park where a husband and wife were killed while hiking with their two young daughters, as reported by the police.
Arkansas State Police (ASP) were alerted about a double homicide at Devil’s Den State Park, situated near the northwestern part of the state, on Saturday afternoon. The victims, Clinton Brink, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, were discovered deceased on a walking trail, according to an official press release.
Fortunately, their two daughters, aged 9 and 7, were unharmed and are now safe with relatives, law enforcement officials confirmed.
The Brinks had recently relocated to Prairie Grove, Ark., from another state and were still new to the area, as mentioned in the press release.
Authorities have provided a description of the suspect as a White male with a medium build, dressed in a long-sleeved shirt with rolled-up sleeves, dark pants, a dark ballcap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. The suspect was also carrying a black backpack, according to the police.
Additionally, the suspect was spotted heading towards a park exit in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda with a covered license plate. The vehicle was last seen on State Route 170 or 220, officials stated.
Described as a remote and rural area with rugged terrain, thick vegetation, and no cellphone service, Devil’s Den State Park has become the focus of a thorough investigation following this tragic event.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil’s Den State Park,” expressed Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism.
Lewis added, “Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority, and we are working closely with Arkansas State Police and various law enforcement officials as the investigation continues.”
As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging anyone who visited the park on the day of the incident to review any photos or videos they may have taken for potential sightings of the suspect.
Increased law enforcement presence has been noted across Arkansas state parks in response to this tragic incident.
The ASP has not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment at this time.
