The Dallas Cowboys are currently dealing with the major storyline of Micah Parsons’ contract situation during training camp, particularly focusing on when owner and GM Jerry Jones will address it.
While Parsons is eager for a new extension, it seems that Cowboys fans share the same sentiment.
During an open training camp session, fans chanted “Pay Micah!” as Jones addressed the crowd, as seen in a video posted by The Athletic.

While fans were chanting, Jones attempted to highlight the team’s efforts to strengthen the roster this year, including acquiring wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers via trade.
“I was taken aback last year by our record,” Jones stated. “I never anticipated that. . . . I want you to observe the improvements we’ve made in areas that needed attention. Look at our offensive line. Look at our receiver core. Look at our defense.
“There have been many changes. Many coaching changes. Many player changes.”
Fans, however, remain focused on the elephant in the room – Parsons, the team’s first-round pick from 2021 who has established himself as one of the top defensive players in the league.
Parsons will play the 2025 season on a fifth-year option that the Cowboys easily exercised. Beyond this year, Parsons could become a free agent unless the Cowboys opt to franchise tag him, a move that can lead to complications.

Throughout the offseason, Parsons has been vocal about his contract situation, suggesting in June that the delay in signing him cost the team more money. Following the Cleveland Browns’ extension of Myles Garrett for $40 million, the Pittsburgh Steelers gave T.J. Watt a $41-million-per-year extension.
Parsons alluded to these deals when expressing his thoughts last week, indicating his desire for the Cowboys to show the same commitment to their star defensive players.
“If they don’t want me here, they don’t want me here,” Parsons remarked. “I’ll carry on with my work. I comprehend the nature of the business. As long as I’m here and under contract, I’ll strive to perform at the highest level. But if this is the end, then so be it.”
“I simply don’t understand,” Parsons added regarding his situation.

As of now, Parsons is not holding out and has been present at Dallas’ camp. However, he has not fully participated in practice due to back tightness.
The Penn State alum has lived up to expectations since entering the NFL, amassing 52.5 sacks over his four years with the team.
