Shedeur Sanders faced some challenges during the offseason as he was twice cited for speeding.
Sanders was first pulled over for driving 91 mph in a 65-mph zone. Two weeks later, he was caught going 101 in a 60-mph zone and missed his court appearance for both citations.
The quarterback admitted to learning from his mistakes, with some guidance from his general manager, Andrew Berry.

“Not a wise decision. Just not smart,” Berry commented on the speeding tickets. “It’s something that we’ve discussed with him. He understands the implications and consequences. It’s not just about yourself, but also about the safety of others. A small incident like a deer crossing the road can lead to dangerous outcomes.”
The rookie quarterback addressed the traffic violations while attending teammate David Njoku’s charity softball game last month.

“I made some poor choices personally, and I take responsibility for them,” Sanders admitted. “I made some mistakes, but I have learned from them.”
Sanders is currently competing for a starting position with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him in the fifth round after a surprising drop in the NFL Draft.
Despite being considered a top-five pick at one point, Sanders was not selected until the final day of the draft. One of the quarterbacks chosen ahead of him in the third round was his own teammate, Dillon Gabriel.

His chances of securing the starting role seem slim for now, as he is mostly practicing with third-string players. Among himself, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Gabriel, Sanders is the only one who has not had an opportunity to play with the first team.
