The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, known as ICE, is intensifying its efforts to combat illegal immigration. A recent survey reveals that approximately half of voters believe that the department is too aggressive in its deportation actions. The survey, conducted by Fox News, indicates that while there is significant support for deportation, opinions vary on who should be targeted for removal.

According to the latest Fox News poll, 30% of respondents support deporting all illegal immigrants, while 60% favor deporting only those who have committed crimes and allowing others to stay and apply for citizenship. A minority of 10% believes that all illegal immigrants should be allowed to remain in the U.S.

Historically, a majority of respondents have been in favor of deporting illegal immigrants since 2015.

When it comes to political affiliation, the survey shows that Republicans are more inclined to support the deportation of all illegal immigrants (54%), compared to Democrats (7%) and Independents (25%). However, a significant portion of Democrats (80%), Independents (60%), and Republicans (40%) agree that illegal immigrants charged with crimes should be deported, while others should be given the opportunity to stay.

Opinions on ICE’s approach to deportation are divided, with 49% of respondents believing that the agency is too aggressive in its efforts, while 24% think it is not aggressive enough. Approximately 27% feel that deportation efforts are appropriate.

Concerns about illegal immigration have evolved over the years, with a larger number of voters currently worried about the strain it puts on government programs (39%), rather than its potential impact on crime (16%), terrorism (10%), job displacement (14%), or cultural changes (9%).

Furthermore, the survey indicates that most voters oppose certain immigration-related measures included in the new budget legislation, such as increased spending on the border wall and immigrant detention centers.

In terms of handling immigration issues, voters believe that the Republican Party is more capable than the Democratic Party. President Donald Trump receives higher approval ratings on border security (56%) and immigration (48%) compared to other aspects of his job performance.

Hispanic voters’ attitudes towards illegal immigration mirror those of the general voter population, with 60% supporting the deportation of illegal immigrants charged with crimes. The majority of Hispanic voters also feel that ICE has been too aggressive in its approach. While Hispanic voters approve of Trump’s performance on border security (54%), they disapprove of his handling of immigration (60%).

The survey, conducted in July 2025 by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, involved interviews with 1,000 registered voters. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is ±3 percentage points. Results among subgroups may have a higher margin of error. Weighted adjustments were made to ensure the demographic representation of respondents aligns with the registered voter population.
