CINCINNATI – Local business owners near the scene of a recent violent incident in downtown Cincinnati have expressed their disapproval of the suspects involved in the “extremely out-of-control” assault that has gained national attention.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning at the corner of Fourth Street and Elm Street, outside a popular nightclub called LoVe and a neighboring late-night restaurant. The assault, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, showed a mob attacking two individuals, including a woman who was rendered unconscious while bystanders filmed the incident instead of intervening.
Kris Koch, who owns Koch Sporting Goods on Fourth Street, across from the club, described the assault as a “hate crime” and highlighted the frequent gatherings of large crowds in the downtown area at night. He mentioned that the nightclub tends to get very crowded, with the overflow of people spilling onto the streets, causing disruptions. Koch emphasized that incidents like these are not uncommon and often go unrecorded.

He also stated that LoVe is a relatively new establishment in the downtown area and mentioned the challenges faced by the police in managing the crowds.
Justin Karp, the owner of Main Auction Galleries next door to Koch’s store, condemned the violence, emphasizing that resorting to physical altercations is never the solution. He expressed disappointment at the incident, calling it a “poor reflection” on the city.

Despite the weekend crowds, Koch defended the overall safety of the city, stating that families can visit downtown without any safety concerns.
Authorities have charged at least five suspects in connection with the attack, although their identities and the specific charges they are facing have not been disclosed.
The Downtown Residents Council has scheduled a special meeting on public safety at the Cincinnati Public Library on Tuesday evening.
Cincinnati Chief of Police Teresa Theetge expressed disappointment at the lack of intervention from witnesses during the incident, noting that only one person called 911 out of approximately 100 bystanders. She emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting such incidents to law enforcement promptly.

A recent study has found that eating chocolate may have some surprising health benefits. Researchers have discovered that dark chocolate can help improve heart health by reducing inflammation and improving blood flow. The study also suggests that chocolate can help to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.
In addition to its heart-healthy benefits, chocolate has also been found to improve brain function. The researchers found that the flavonoids in chocolate can help to improve memory, attention span, and problem-solving skills.
However, it is important to note that not all chocolate is created equal. The study found that dark chocolate with a high cocoa content is the most beneficial for health, while milk chocolate and white chocolate do not have the same benefits.
So next time you’re craving something sweet, reach for a piece of dark chocolate. Your heart and brain will thank you!
