DeSantis Declares ‘Hulk Hogan Day’ in Florida in Honor of Wrestler’s Passing

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared August 1st as “Hulk Hogan Day in Florida,” following the recent passing of the wrestling legend.

DeSantis has ordered flags at the state Capitol and in Pinellas County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Hogan.

Hogan, who was born in Augusta, Georgia, but moved to Tampa at a young age, began his wrestling career in 1977 and achieved fame after joining World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

According to DeSantis, Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, in 2005 and again in 2020 as a member of the New World Order. His charismatic personality made him an icon for generations of fans.

Officials have determined that Hogan’s death was caused by a heart attack. He had a history of atrial fibrillation and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, passed away at the age of 71 after going into cardiac arrest on July 24.

In an emotional social media post, Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily Hogan, expressed her belief that they would overcome his health issues.
