Micah Parsons made it known that he has requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys in a social media post on Friday, and his teammates have shown their support for him.

At 26 years old, Parsons stated after prolonged negotiations that he no longer wishes to remain with the Cowboys.

Parsons’ teammate and star player, CeeDee Lamb, took to social media to express his backing.

“Never fails dawg. Just pay the man what you owe him. No need for the extra curricular,” Lamb wrote.

Cowboys’ cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, and defensive Juanyeh Thomas all changed their profile pictures on social media to include Parsons.

In his message, Parsons mentioned that he had done everything possible to demonstrate his desire to stay with the Cowboys.

“Yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America’s team once again. The team my father and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here,” Parsons wrote in his post.

“I no longer want to be part of closed-door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while giving my all for the organization, our fans, and my teammates. I no longer want false narratives created and spread to the media about me. I had purposely stayed quiet in hopes of getting something done.”

Parsons mentioned that he had wanted a contract extension after his third season, when he became eligible for such a deal, but the team showed no interest. Parsons expressed that he is “okay with that” and shifted his focus to the 2024 season.

However, Parsons stated that there has been “radio silence” from the Cowboys regarding any potential contract extension after the last season.

“Yet still not a call, email, or text to my agent about starting a negotiation. Up to today, the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about starting a negotiation. Not one demand has been made by my agent about money, years, or anything else,” Parsons wrote.

“I have made a tough decision. I no longer wish to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons concluded his post.

Parsons has been a standout pass-rusher since being selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Parsons has been selected to the Pro Bowl in all four seasons of his career.

In 63 career games, Parsons has amassed 52.5 sacks with 172 solo tackles and nine forced fumbles. Last season, Parsons recorded 12 sacks in 13 games.
