White House reacts to allegations in SJSU volleyball case involving Brooke Slusser

The White House has made a statement to Fox News Digital following the allegations made by former San Jose State volleyball player Brooke Slusser regarding her final college volleyball season in 2024. Slusser claimed that a transgender teammate was investigated for plotting to harm her during a game.

According to White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers, the administration is committed to ensuring that women can participate in sports without fear of harassment or violation by biological men. This move is seen as a step towards restoring integrity to women’s sports.

In response to Fox News Digital’s report on the Mountain West Conference investigation into the allegations against former SJSU trans athlete Blaire Fleming, President Donald Trump’s Department of Education initiated a federal Title IX investigation into San Jose State. The investigation focused on the situation involving Fleming and the university’s handling of the transgender athlete.

Slusser expressed her approval of the White House’s efforts to eliminate men from women’s sports but emphasized that more significant changes are still needed. She highlighted the challenges that female athletes face when competing alongside biological men and called for urgent action to address this issue.

In a lawsuit involving 10 current or former women’s college volleyball players, including Slusser, allegations were made against Mountain West and representatives of SJSU. The suit claimed that Fleming conspired with a Colorado State player to have Slusser spiked in the face during a match. Despite an investigation by the Mountain West Conference, no conclusive evidence was found to support the allegations.

Slusser revealed that she had spoken to a teammate who was interviewed as part of the investigation into Fleming’s alleged plan and believes that there is sufficient evidence to support the claims. She urged for the investigation to be reopened to further explore the matter.

Furthermore, Slusser accused university officials of concealing information about Fleming’s birth sex from her and recounted instances where she was unknowingly placed in the same room as the transgender athlete during overnight trips. This revelation left her feeling vulnerable and exposed.

Following her involvement in a lawsuit against the NCAA, Slusser claimed that her interactions with trans athletes, including Fleming, turned hostile. Despite the challenges she faced, Slusser remains determined to address the issues surrounding transgender participation in women’s sports.

Fox News Digital reached out to San Jose State athletic director Jeff Konya for comments on Slusser’s claims and the ongoing investigation.

During a press conference at Mountain West media days on July 15, Konya abruptly ended the session after facing questions related to allegations made against Fleming by Slusser.

When shown a video clip of Slusser reciting the allegations, Konya responded by stating, “I have no idea if she’s telling the truth or not.” He also mentioned that he could not confirm if any witnesses corroborated the claims against Fleming.

Regarding the university’s handling of the controversy involving Fleming in 2024, Konya expressed that he believed everyone acted in the best possible manner under the circumstances.

Slusser, who had one year of eligibility for NCAA beach volleyball, considered returning to play after graduating from SJSU. However, she decided against it due to concerns about her well-being, potential retaliation, and lack of trust in the institution to protect her.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon confirmed that the Trump Education Department will continue to address the SJSU investigation.

Fox News Digital has reached out to various entities for responses to the reported findings and allegations, but many declined to comment due to ongoing litigation and investigations.

Attempts to contact Fleming for comment were unsuccessful.
