Teacher charged in Arkansas double murder had worked in 4 school districts prior to killings

The 28-year-old teacher accused of fatally stabbing a married couple in front of their children at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas had a history of moving between four districts in three states before the alleged murders, according to a report.

Andrew McGann, who is facing two counts of capital murder in the deaths of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, was previously placed on administrative leave at an elementary school in Flower Mound, Texas, after concerns were raised about his classroom management. Parents and colleagues described him as reserved and not very friendly.

McGann, a graduate of Oklahoma State University-Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, holds active teaching licenses in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma with no previous infractions or suspensions noted on his public state licensures.

McGann resigned from his teaching position in Texas following concerns related to classroom management and student favoritism. He then taught in Oklahoma before moving to a different district. He was set to start a new job at a school in northwest Arkansas before the tragic murders took place.

McGann appeared before an Arkansas judge who ordered him to be held without bond and assigned a public defender. His arraignment is scheduled for later this month.

Friends and acquaintances of the victims expressed shock and sadness over the tragic events.
