FBI Director Kash Patel spoke out against the left-wing media’s accusations of dishonesty on Saturday after he uncovered a collection of sensitive documents related to the origins of the Trump-Russia probe hidden in multiple “burn bags” in a secret room within the bureau.

Sources revealed that the “burn bag” system is typically used to dispose of documents classified as confidential or higher.

Sources also disclosed that numerous burn bags were discovered, filled with thousands of documents. Among the items found in a burn bag was the classified annex to former special counsel John Durham’s final report, which contains the underlying intelligence he reviewed.

Patel referenced the burn bags, emphasizing what he had previously demonstrated in 2017 and 2018.

“In 2017/18, I demonstrated that the Steele Dossier was fabricated intelligence, weaponized by corrupt FBI officials to mislead a federal judge and illegally surveil the campaign of then-presidential candidate Trump – all funded by his opponent,” the FBI director stated. “The media branded me a liar.

“Now as FBI Director: We have uncovered burn bags/room filled with Russia Gate files, including the Durham annex, and declassified them,” Patel continued. “Once again, I released the previous FBI’s own documents and exposed the truth. The same media is once again calling me a liar. Perhaps this FBI will release more documents directly from FBI HQ… so we can determine who is being dishonest – wouldn’t want to deprive the fake news of more undeserved accolades.”

The declassification of the classified annex is being carried out in close collaboration among CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Patel, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and acting National Security Agency Director William Hartman.

The declassified annex will be transmitted to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who will ultimately make the document public.

Patel, in an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan in June, disclosed that he discovered a room filled with documents and computer hard drives “that no one had ever seen or heard of.”

“Just imagine this,” Patel shared with Rogan. “Me, as director of the FBI, the former ‘Russiagate guy,’ upon my arrival at the bureau, found a room in the Hoover Building that Comey and others had kept hidden from the world, full of documents and computer hard drives that no one had ever seen or heard of. They locked the door, hid access, and simply said, ‘No one will ever find this place.'”

Patel and his team have been reviewing the documents, some of which pertain to sensitive investigations, including the FBI’s original Trump-Russia probe, internally known as Crossfire Hurricane.

It remains unclear what the latest documents specifically cover, but sources informed Fox News Digital that the recent discovery was made in response to an investigative request from Grassley.

Patel has handed over the documents to Grassley.

Grassley has been seeking information related to Durham’s probe. Durham was appointed after former special counsel Robert Mueller concluded his extensive investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, including misconduct within the intelligence community during and after the 2016 election.

Sources informed Fox News Digital that Grassley’s team is currently examining the underlying information as part of their investigative efforts.

As for the other records, Patel’s team is working to provide them to Congress in compliance with investigative requests from relevant committees.
