The former Vice President, Kamala Harris, is once again in the national spotlight due to her upcoming book about her brief 2024 White House campaign. Speculation is rising about whether she will make another attempt in 2028.

In addition to political observers closely monitoring Harris for her future plans, she is also under scrutiny by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky. Comer is investigating allegations of a cover-up related to evidence of former President Joe Biden’s mental decline by top officials in the Biden administration.

Comer hinted at the possibility of contacting Harris during an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle” last week. This came shortly after Harris announced that she would not be running for governor of California, as some had speculated. Instead, she plans to go on a listening tour to engage with Americans and support fellow Democrats across the nation.

“I believe that Kamala Harris not running for governor gives her more time to appear before the House Oversight Committee and testify about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline,” Comer stated. “So the chances of Kamala Harris receiving a subpoena are quite high.”

During an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Harris indicated that she is not currently focused on electoral ambitions. She expressed her desire to listen to all voters, leaving the door open for a potential future presidential bid.

“I have always believed that our democracy’s systems were strong enough to defend our fundamental principles. Unfortunately, I now see that they are not as robust as they need to be,” Harris remarked.

“For now, I do not wish to re-enter the political system. I want to travel the country, listen to people, and engage in meaningful conversations. I do not want these interactions to be transactional, where I am simply asking for votes.”

Jonathan Turley, a legal expert and Fox News contributor, highlighted the challenges Harris may face if subpoenaed by Congress while eyeing a potential 2028 presidential run.

“This presents a dilemma for Harris, who clearly has aspirations for another presidential bid,” Turley commented. “While the committee can compel her appearance, the optics of a forced subpoena are not ideal for someone seeking the presidency.”

He acknowledged that Harris would be a prime target for Comer’s investigation due to her close position within the White House’s inner circle.

Trey Gowdy, a former House Oversight Committee Chair and current Fox News host, expressed skepticism about the potential value of bringing Harris in for questioning.

“Is it worth investigating? Absolutely. Is it worth hearing her perspective? Yes. Will she cooperate? Likely not,” Gowdy stated.

He predicted that Harris’ legal team would likely try to delay or obstruct any appearance through claims of executive privilege or similar legal maneuvers.

“Both parties have invoked such privileges repeatedly during congressional investigations,” Gowdy noted.

Turley emphasized the importance of House investigators asking specific questions to prevent Harris from providing vague or opinion-based responses.

Gowdy concurred that Harris could be a valuable witness in the probe into Biden’s use of an autopen, particularly for pardons.

He cautioned, however, that defying a subpoena could have serious consequences for Harris.

“Prosecutors have the authority to bring in non-compliant witnesses. Congress does not have that power. Your enforcement of a subpoena is only as strong as your ability to enforce it,” Gowdy explained.

A spokesperson for Biden declined to comment on Comer’s subpoena threat when contacted by Fox News Digital.

Representatives for Harris and House Oversight Committee Democrats did not respond to requests for comment.

In a recent study, researchers have found that drinking coffee may have potential health benefits. The study, published in the Journal of Nutrition, suggests that drinking coffee in moderation could be linked to a reduced risk of heart disease.

The researchers analyzed data from over 400,000 participants and found that those who drank 1-2 cups of coffee per day had a lower risk of heart disease compared to non-coffee drinkers. However, it is important to note that excessive coffee consumption can have negative effects on health.

Dr. Alice Smith, one of the lead researchers of the study, stated, “While more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between coffee consumption and heart health, our findings suggest that moderate coffee intake may be beneficial for heart health.”

It is recommended to consult with a healthcare provider before making any significant changes to your diet, including increasing coffee consumption. In the meantime, coffee lovers can enjoy their daily cup of joe knowing that it may have some potential health benefits.
