The Las Vegas Raiders’ safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. suffered a broken leg during a collision with star edge rusher Maxx Crosby at practice on Saturday.
The incident occurred during a run play when running back Raheem Moster sprinted to the right and was tackled by Crosby, who accidentally rolled onto Johnson’s leg.
Johnson immediately grabbed his right leg, and after being evaluated by the medical staff on the Allegiant Stadium turf, he was placed on a cart, as seen in a video posted by ESPN.

The Raiders’ new head coach Pete Carroll initially referred to the injury as a “lower leg injury,” with later reports indicating that Johnson had suffered a fractured fibula.
Although the Raiders have not officially confirmed Johnson’s status, the player hinted at the seriousness of the injury in posts on social media.
“Imma soldier chin up chest out,” Johnson wrote. “God got me.”
He also humorously commented, “I wonder if I can get a handicap sticker now,” with laughing emojis.
This marks Johnson’s seventh year in the NFL after being drafted by the Houston Texans in 2019. Despite being a second-round pick, Johnson parted ways with the Texans after three seasons.

Since then, Johnson has played for the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.
Throughout his career, Johnson has accumulated four interceptions, 199 combined tackles, and 15 combined tackles in 83 games.
Johnson recently shared that when he signed a one-year deal with the Raiders, Carroll had been pursuing him for years, finally succeeding in bringing him to the team.

Reports indicate that Johnson was receiving first-team defensive reps during practice, suggesting that his absence could be a significant blow to the team. Johnson was expected to play a rotational role this season.
