Senator Elizabeth Warren, a prominent figure in the progressive movement, commended Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani for his emphasis on affordability as he campaigns for mayor in the nation’s largest city, citing him as a model for the Democratic Party.
During a joint appearance at a union headquarters in New York City, Warren expressed her support for Mamdani and the vision he represents for the future of the party.
“The Democratic Party must take a stand and make it clear that we are the party advocating for affordability and working families, including issues such as child care, housing, and healthcare. We are committed to making this country a better place for the hardworking individuals who keep it running,” Warren stated.
Highlighting Mamdani’s efforts, Warren emphasized, “Democrats are actively working to create a more affordable environment for working people, and I stand with someone who is actively making a difference.”

Mamdani, a 33-year-old state lawmaker born in Uganda and representing the borough of Queens in New York City, made headlines by securing the Democratic Party mayoral nomination in a competitive field that included former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
With a strong focus on affordability and grassroots support from progressive leaders like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders, Mamdani’s campaign resonated with voters and propelled him to victory.

Now positioned as the frontrunner for the upcoming general election, Mamdani aims to become New York City’s first Muslim and first millennial mayor.
Republicans have targeted Mamdani by highlighting his progressive policy positions, such as advocating for police defunding, criticizing Israel, and challenging the presence of ICE in the city. They seek to portray him as a symbol of the Democratic Party’s direction in future elections.
Although Cuomo lost the Democratic Party nomination, he is running as an independent candidate in the general election, alongside incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
Warren criticized Cuomo’s campaign strategy, accusing him of relying on wealthy donors to fund negative advertisements against his opponents.

At a campaign event, Cuomo criticized Mamdani’s stance on public safety and labeled him as “anti-police.”
In response to scrutiny over his past statements regarding police funding, Mamdani faced renewed criticism following a recent mass shooting in Manhattan.
Warren’s support for Mamdani extends beyond their joint appearance, as she has also shared positive messages about him on social media and in publications like Rolling Stone.

A new study has found that drinking coffee may have a number of health benefits. Researchers analyzed data from over 200 previous studies and found that coffee consumption was linked to a reduced risk of various health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and liver disease.
The study also found that coffee drinkers may have a lower risk of developing certain types of cancer, such as prostate, endometrial, and skin cancer. Additionally, coffee consumption was associated with a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
However, the researchers caution that more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between coffee consumption and health. They also note that adding sugar and cream to coffee can negate some of the potential health benefits.
Overall, the study suggests that moderate coffee consumption can be part of a healthy diet and may have some protective effects against certain health conditions.
