The long-awaited meeting between the San Francisco Giants and New York Giants has finally taken place.
In 2015, “Dan in Warwick” called legendary New York sports radio host Mike Francesa and asked him if there had ever been a meetup between the MLB and NFL teams, since they shared the same name and the MLB team used to be based in New York.
Francesa was startled, saying, “That might be the oddest question in a while.”

He then humorously mentioned a “Giant picnic” in Totowa and similar gatherings between the New York and Texas Rangers in Albeliene.
“[Henrik] Lundqvist is particularly close with Yu Darvish,” Francesa quipped. “There’s a connection between the two.”
The phone call has become one of the most memorable moments in radio show history, and it has been a hot topic in the tri-state area with the MLB’s Giants in New York to face the Mets.
Finally, “Dan in Warick’s” dream has come true.
In a video posted on X, Francesa can be seen walking through a hall before entering a room where New York’s Eli Manning and Shaun O’Hara, along with San Francisco’s Logan Webb and Matt Chapman are present at the “Giants Giants Annual Meeting” (likely in Totowa).

“They really do get together!” exclaimed Francesa before leaving the room.
The MLB team announced, “Our turn to host next year.”
Francesa received numerous prank calls in his later years, including inquiries about the Mets going 162-0 after an Opening Day win, how Mickey Mantle could win the Triple Crown if he wasn’t a horse, and suggestions like the Mets should recruit “Game of Thrones” characters Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister (which he dismissed), and more.

Francesa briefly retired in 2017 but made a comeback a few months later, only to retire from radio full-time in 2019 and subsequently start a podcast.
