Local and federal detectives are currently investigating what they have labeled a hate crime following the discovery of antisemitic graffiti on the roadway and multiple vehicles damaged by fire in Missouri.
The Clayton Police Department stated that officers were called to the scene around 3 a.m. on Tuesday and found three vehicles that had been damaged by a fire, which they believe was intentionally set.
Although no injuries were reported, officers found antisemitic graffiti on a city roadway near St. Louis.
The incident is being treated as a hate crime, with authorities indicating that the victim was likely targeted. The FBI and St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit have joined the investigation.
Local news station First Alert 4 captured drone footage of the graffiti, which reportedly included the message “Death to the IDF” and was aimed at an individual.
Clayton Mayor Bridget McAndrew condemned the “offensive and violent act of arson” and emphasized the city’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive community for all residents.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon vowed to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions, while the Jewish Federation of St. Louis denounced the attack as a hateful act of intimidation.
