With the NFL regular season on the horizon, the Jacksonville Jaguars are shedding light on their plans for rookie Travis Hunter.
Hunter, known for his skills on both offense and defense during his time at Jackson State and Colorado, has been named the starting wide receiver and backup cornerback on the Jaguars’ initial depth chart.
While the discussion about Hunter’s potential dual-role in the NFL continues, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams shared his thoughts on the rookie’s future.

Adams expressed concerns about potential injuries if Hunter is required to play significant snaps on both offense and defense over the long term.
“I don’t even think it’s possible to do. Not at a high level. It’s hard enough to go cover a punt and then be on one side,” Adams stated during an episode of “The Pivot” podcast.

Adams emphasized the importance of staying injury-free in the NFL and highlighted the challenges Hunter may face when defending against seasoned players.
“I don’t wish any of that on him. I hope he can play an injury-free season and go ball out. But this is the reality. It’s already 100% injury guarantee. Once you get out there playing both sides, you gotta tackle Derrick Henry with that frame. He’s athletic as hell, but he’s gotta do some ninja stuff.”

Historically, two-way players in the NFL have been rare. Chuck Bednarik was the last full-time two-way athlete, playing linebacker and offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949-1962.
Other notable former two-way stars include Sammy Baugh, a quarterback, defensive back, and punter, and Don Hutson, who played receiver and safety for the Green Bay Packers.
