Vikings’ Jordan Addison suspended for DUI citation

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been suspended for three games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. This comes after Addison pleaded no contest to a lesser charge in a 2024 DUI case last month.

In July 2024, the 23-year-old pro athlete was found asleep in the driver’s seat of his white Rolls-Royce after the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a disabled vehicle blocking a lane and subsequently arrested him.

As part of a plea bargain known as a “wet reckless” in California, Addison accepted a lesser misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. The term “wet” indicates that alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.

Because Addison pleaded no contest, he avoided trial after facing two misdemeanor DUI charges for the arrest on July 12, 2024.

Addison’s attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, stated that he will pay a fine and complete two online courses, with the expectation that his probation will be shortened from 12 to six months.

Addison will be allowed to participate in the Vikings’ preseason games against the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans. However, he will miss the three regular-season games against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

With Addison sidelined, quarterback JJ McCarthy, who is making his first career start in Week 1, will be without one of his top weapons. Addison, along with superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson, forms one of the strongest wide receiver duos in the NFL.

During the previous season, Addison recorded 63 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games. Meanwhile, Jefferson played in all 17 games and amassed 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Throughout his career, Addison has shown a knack for finding the endzone, with a total of 19 receiving touchdowns in his first two seasons.
