Trump lifts age limit for ICE officers in hiring surge.

President Donald Trump’s administration has eliminated the age cap for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) law enforcement positions, allowing individuals who may have previously aged out of the force to apply for roles. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement on Wednesday as part of a significant recruitment effort for the nation’s immigration force. The goal is to hire 10,000 individuals, with ICE already receiving 80,000 applications.

“We are removing the age cap for ICE law enforcement. Qualified candidates can now apply with no age limit,” Noem stated. White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller also encouraged applicants by saying, “Calling all patriots. Submit your application TODAY.”

ICE is offering incentives to attract more applicants, including a signing bonus of up to $50,000, options to repay or forgive student loans, and other benefits. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons emphasized the importance of serving at ICE to defend the Homeland, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

The recruitment drive aligns with ICE’s efforts to address illegal immigration by deporting individuals with criminal convictions and charges in addition to entering the country unlawfully. The agency has reported an 830% increase in assaults on agents, particularly during riots and protests across the country. Despite the risks involved, ICE assures that officers are expertly trained and precautions are taken to ensure their well-being.

Overall, the Trump administration is looking to hire an additional 10,000 ICE officers to bolster immigration enforcement efforts. The recruitment webpage addresses common questions, including the level of risk associated with the work. Fox News’ Cameron Arcand contributed to this report.
