Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was in a car accident on his way to the team’s stadium on Wednesday and sustained minor injuries, head coach Dave Canales confirmed.
Horn, 25, was driving alone when the incident occurred at an intersection just outside the stadium, a team spokesperson said.
No one involved in the accident required emergency medical transportation, according to the team representative. Horn was examined by the team’s medical staff.

Panthers coach Dave Canales mentioned that Horn received stitches in his thumb area.
“I’m relieved that Jaycee was not seriously harmed,” Canales stated. “He did require a few stitches in his left thumb area. The medical team took care of that. It doesn’t appear that anything else is wrong, but we will continue to monitor his condition daily.”
Horn did not participate in the team’s joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and will also miss the Panthers’ preseason game against the Browns on Friday.

Canales expressed hope that Horn will be able to play in the team’s second preseason game against the Houston Texans on Aug. 16.
“Hopefully we can get him ready to take part in the game against Houston, which was the plan all along,” Canales added.
Fox News Digital reached out to Horn’s agent for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Horn, a Pro Bowl player last season, is a key player for the team. Despite some injury setbacks, the Panthers signed him to a lucrative contract extension earlier this year, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.
