Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed uncertainty about star pass rusher Micah Parsons playing in Week 1.
The Cowboys are set to kick off their season on Sept. 4 against division rival and Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles.

This week, Jones was asked about Parsons’ potential presence in the lineup.
“No, absolutely not,” Jones told reporters after a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. “A big part of that is his decision. How would I know that? No, but I’m urgent.”
Jones mentioned that he hasn’t had a conversation with Parsons since the star initiated a trade request, but he emphasized the urgency of the situation.

“I think the world of Micah,” Jones stated. “Like I’ve said, I’ve had social time with Micah, which isn’t always the case, but I have. He’s one of the brightest people I’ve ever been around, and he’s very, very talented. Now, how we ultimately integrate him into our future is a challenge, and I’m up for it, he’s up for it.”
Parsons has been attending practice and meetings despite ongoing contract negotiations.
The star pass rusher recently made a trade request, citing lack of communication from the Cowboys regarding a contract extension over the past two offseasons.
Parsons’ social media post expressed his desire to remain with the Cowboys but highlighted issues with contract negotiations and treatment.

If Parsons is sidelined in Week 1, it would significantly impact the team’s defense. Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been a standout pass rusher since being drafted 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft from Penn State.
Throughout his career, Parsons has excelled with 52½ sacks, 172 solo tackles, and nine forced fumbles in 63 games. Last season, he recorded 12 sacks in 13 games.
