The preseason game between the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons took a serious turn on Friday night when Lions safety Morice Norris suffered a hard hit to the head. Norris received medical attention for about 20 minutes and was taken off the field in an ambulance, leading to the game being called off with 6:31 remaining on the clock.
The injury occurred when Norris was trying to tackle Nathan Carter with 14:50 left in the game. The game was suspended with no immediate report on the extent of Norris’ injury.
Lions coach Dan Campbell provided an update in the postgame press conference, stating that Norris was breathing and talking, and had some movement. He mentioned that further tests would be conducted to assess the situation.
Quarterback Kyle Allen expressed his concern for Norris, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the game. He mentioned that no one on the sideline felt like playing following the incident.
Morice Norris, 24, joined the Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and had previously spent time on the practice squad before making it to the active roster last season.
