Law enforcement officials in Hawaii are on the lookout for a suspect accused of throwing acid into a man’s face on Friday night in Honolulu, resulting in critical injuries.

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) received a report of an assault around 10 p.m. in the Chinatown area.

Witnesses reported that a 30-year-old man was attacked by an unknown suspect who threw an unidentified liquid at his face while he was crossing the street.

The liquid was later identified as sulfuric acid by the Honolulu Fire Department, a highly corrosive substance causing severe burns to skin and tissues.
