2 suspects arrested in downtown Cincinnati attack injuring 2

CINCINNATI – During a public safety meeting in Cincinnati, Chief of Police Teresa Theetge announced that two individuals have been arrested in connection to a violent downtown incident that left two individuals seriously injured over the weekend.

The chief disclosed that 34-year-old Montianez Merriweather and 24-year-old Dekyra Vernon have been taken into custody, with charges yet to be specified.

Hamilton County jail records do not provide details on the charges faced by the suspects.

According to reports from local news outlet FOX 19, the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office has issued three warrants for additional arrests.

The Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Queen City Lodge #69 expressed gratitude to the Cincinnati Police Department for apprehending the two individuals involved in the “heinous attack” that occurred on Saturday morning.

The FOP highlighted a prior incident where Merriweather was indicted on July 10, 2025, for various charges including receiving stolen property and weapons offenses.

The altercation took place early Saturday morning at the intersection of Fourth Street and Elm Street, outside a popular nightclub called LoVe and an adjacent late-night restaurant, sparking outrage on social media after videos of the incident circulated.

In the footage, a group attacked two individuals, including a woman who was knocked unconscious while onlookers recorded the incident instead of intervening.
