With the MLB trade deadline approaching in less than a week, teams are actively engaging in trade talks while players are anxiously waiting to see where they will end up for the rest of the 2025 season and beyond.

Players often try to ignore the outside chatter, but it’s hard to avoid the rumors circulating on social media, sports talk shows, and other news outlets.

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has advised his players not to believe everything they hear or read, especially from certain sources – including the one he used to work for.

“I can share stories about my time at ESPN, where people would make things up – like trades,” Cora told reporters. “I want them to know not everything they hear is true.”

Cora is well aware of the frenzy surrounding trade deadline rumors, as fans eagerly anticipate their team’s next move to improve their roster or secure future prospects.

“When you’re on social media looking for baseball news, your feed will be filled with trade rumors and stories,” Cora added. “Some sources are reliable, while others are not. It’s best to ignore the noise.”

As the trade deadline approaches, players like Jarren Duran of the Boston Red Sox find themselves at the center of trade talks, with the possibility of being moved to another team before the deadline.
