Anthony Anderson has responded to a viral video clip from 2003 in which he made a controversial comment to a teenage Lindsay Lohan.
More than two decades ago, Anderson stepped in for Sharon Osbourne on “The Sharon Osbourne Show” and interviewed Lohan, who was 17 at the time.
“This interview was meant to be humorous. He apologizes if the joke was inappropriate and wants to emphasize his utmost respect for Lindsay,” a representative for Anderson told Entertainment Weekly.

“Any insinuation otherwise is inaccurate and potentially defamatory.”

In a recently resurfaced clip of the interview, Anderson asked Lohan about her living situation, to which she mentioned she had moved in with Raven-Symone from the Disney Channel.
“This interview was clearly intended as comedy. He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay.”

“Both of you are beautiful women. Both of you are young and have your own individual styles,” Anderson remarked, inquiring how they would compromise on decorating their home.
He then asked Lohan, “What gentlemen will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné?”
“No one. I don’t have a boyfriend,” Lohan replied. Anderson jokingly added, “She’s single, but looking!”

Lohan quickly clarified, “I’m underage, for older people.”
“Some men like them young. We ain’t gonna mention no names, but I’m one of them,” Anderson responded, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Later in the interview, Anderson made a reference to Lohan’s film, “Freaky Friday,” which coincidentally was released on DVD the same day as the interview.

“Right now, we’re about to get our freak on,” Anderson said before moving closer to Lohan on the couch, leading to a commercial break. Lohan reacted by covering her mouth in the resurfaced clip.
The interview gained attention again as Lohan prepares for the premiere of the sequel, “Freakier Friday,” scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 8.
