The head coach of the men’s basketball team at a university in Kansas, Bill Self, was hospitalized due to experiencing worrisome symptoms.

University officials confirmed that the 62-year-old coach underwent a heart procedure where two stents were inserted.

Despite the health scare, Self is reportedly in good spirits and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.

According to a statement from the school, “The procedure was successful, and a full recovery is expected. He is in good spirits and anticipates being released from the hospital soon.”

This hospitalization is not the first time Self has faced health issues. In 2023, he missed important basketball tournaments due to chest tightness and balance problems.

Since 2003, Self has been leading the Kansas team, securing not only two national titles but also 14 consecutive Big 12 regular-season championships from 2004-2018.

In 2017, Self was honored with induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
