Bodycam footage and 911 calls related to the alleged Manhattan mass shooter Shane Tamura have been released by Las Vegas police. The materials include video of officers responding to a reported mental health breakdown at his apartment and an arrest at a local casino.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released the materials late Tuesday citing “extraordinary circumstances” following the mass shooting event last week. It was revealed that Tamura had a documented mental health history.

Tamura, 27, carried out a shooting spree with an AR-style rifle at the 345 Park Avenue office building, resulting in the deaths of an NYPD police officer, a security guard, and two executives before taking his own life, according to police reports.

In a September 2023 incident, Tamura was arrested at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa after refusing to leave. He had won money while gambling at the casino and declined to show identification.

Video footage shows Tamura questioning his arrest and sitting with cuffed hands in a security room while police explain the situation multiple times. The officer expressed frustration with Tamura’s delay in providing his name.

“Do you want to just go to jail and be done with this? I’d rather not arrest you, sir,” the officer said.

After being told to leave outside the casino, Tamura refused, claiming the casino owed him around $6,000. He was subsequently arrested and placed into a police vehicle.

Tamura was employed in the security department at the Horseshoe Las Vegas, where his supervisor sold him the rifle used in the shooting for $1,400. The sale was reported to have followed all legal procedures.

The interaction in August 2024, when first responders were called to Tamura’s apartment for a health evaluation, came after his mother contacted 911 to report that her son was suicidal.

First responders mentioned initiating a legal 2000 admission, known as an L2K, to send Tamura to a psychiatric facility after the incident.

In a separate video from May 2023, police stopped Tamura at a traffic stop for lacking a rear license plate on his black BMW sedan. It was discovered that his license was canceled and registration had expired, leading to the confiscation of his vehicle.

A 911 call from 2022 reported that Tamura was threatening self-harm, with a family member mentioning he had a gun stored in a backpack.
