Moreno said he was “stunned” after hearing Holly’s story, adding that she was “lucky to be alive.”
“I really want to commend this woman for standing up and doing what was right,” Moreno said. “It took an enormous amount of courage, and she sustained significant injuries as a result. I think what we need to do is make sure that we have deterrents in place so that we can prevent these kinds of things from happening in the future.”

Holly, who is currently homeless and living in a shelter, said she is taking things “day by day” as she tries to heal from her traumatic experience.
“It’s a struggle every day,” she said. “I’m trying to find a little bit of peace in my life, and I’m hoping that Holly’s Act can make a difference. I just want people to understand that this can happen to anyone, anywhere. I’m just one person, and I want to make sure that nobody else has to go through what I went through.”

During a press conference on Wednesday, Moreno announced plans to work with state legislators to introduce what he referred to as ‘Holly’s Act.’ This initiative aims to raise the bar on minimum sentences and bail requirements to prevent the revolving door of injustice. Moreno emphasized the severity of the crime, stating that it was not just a brawl but an attempted murder of an innocent woman by an individual with a lengthy criminal record. Moreno stressed that someone with such a rap sheet should not be walking free in any Ohio city.
Holly also hopes to implement a law that holds bystanders accountable for not calling authorities in life-threatening situations. She believes that many lives can be saved and crimes prevented if individuals are required to call 911 first instead of just recording the incident on their phones.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, only one person out of approximately 100 bystanders called authorities for help during the attack. Holly expressed regret that she had to intervene physically and emphasized the importance of community members stepping in to prevent such tragedies.
Following the brutal beating, six individuals were arrested and are facing various charges for their roles in the attack. The victim, Holly, is now focused on her recovery and hopes that her ordeal will spark changes at the local, state, and national levels to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
As Holly advocates for change, she urges people to come together and take accountability to ensure the safety of all community members. She hopes that her experience will lead to better staffing of law enforcement agencies and encourage individuals to act responsibly and compassionately towards one another.

A new study has found that regular exercise can significantly reduce the risk of developing heart disease. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, followed over 10,000 participants for a period of 10 years. The results showed that those who engaged in moderate to high levels of physical activity were 45% less likely to develop heart disease compared to those who were inactive.
The lead researcher, Dr. Smith, emphasized the importance of regular exercise in maintaining heart health. He stated, “Our findings highlight the significant impact that physical activity can have on reducing the risk of heart disease. Even small changes in activity levels can make a big difference.”
The study also found that the benefits of exercise were dose-dependent, meaning that the more exercise a person engaged in, the lower their risk of heart disease. This highlights the importance of incorporating regular physical activity into daily routines.
Overall, the study provides further evidence of the numerous health benefits of exercise, particularly in reducing the risk of heart disease. Dr. Smith hopes that these findings will encourage more people to prioritize physical activity in their lives to improve their overall health and well-being.
