At the age of 95, iconic American actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood continues to thrive.

In his book “Clint: The Man and the Movies,” celebrity biographer Shawn Levy delves into the health practices that have contributed to Eastwood’s remarkable longevity.

In a recent Air Mail article, Levy highlighted Eastwood’s dedication to fitness, noting his preference for an organic, low-fat diet since the 1950s and his early adoption of health trends like sushi and Transcendental Meditation.

“And in the 60s, he was touting the benefits of sushi,” he added.

Levy revealed that Eastwood has been practicing Transcendental Meditation daily, sometimes even twice a day, since the mid-1970s, showcasing a commitment to both physical and mental well-being throughout his career.

“Indeed, especially while working,” he wrote. “All this while playing the Man with No Name and Dirty Harry and other such avatars of bloodshed.”

Describing Eastwood as a “man of contradictions,” Levy highlighted the actor’s ability to balance tough on-screen personas with his off-screen commitment to mindfulness and meditation.

What is Transcendental Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a technique that offers deep relaxation for both the mind and body, promoting stress relief and improved brain function.

TM practitioners often report feeling more refreshed, clear-minded, and ready for action after just a few minutes of practice, with long-term benefits including increased creativity, inner peace, and better relationships.

In a WebMD guide, experts explain how TM can help individuals achieve a state of “relaxed awareness” by focusing their attention on a mantra, leading to reduced stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as improved sleep and overall well-being.

While TM can offer numerous health benefits, experts caution that it should not be seen as a standalone treatment for certain medical conditions.

Interested individuals can undergo TM training through the nonprofit organization Maharishi Foundation, which offers multi-session group courses led by certified instructors.
