Sydney Sweeney is facing backlash for her recent brand collaboration.

In a promotional video shared on the brand’s Instagram, the “Euphoria” star approached an AE billboard with the slogan “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes.” Sweeney crossed out “Genes” and replaced it with “Jeans” before leaving.

According to Salon, the term “great genes” historically conveyed “whiteness, thinness, and attractiveness.”

Fans expressed disappointment over the advertisement.

Some comments accused the ad of being “Nazi propaganda.”

However, defenders argued that the ad was harmless and not related to Nazism.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney will be featured on various billboards across the US and in Las Vegas. The campaign includes a Snapchat lens and AI “try-on technology” for customers to experience the jeans.

Moreover, proceeds from Sweeney’s “Sydney Jean,” embroidered with a butterfly symbolizing domestic violence awareness, will be donated to Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit offering mental health support.

Representatives for Sweeney and American Eagle have not yet responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
