Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky shared his strong opinion on Terry McLaurin’s contract situation with the Washington Commanders: Pay the man.

During ESPN’s “First Take,” Orlovsky criticized the Commanders for not compensating their top receiver, who has been holding out during training camp due to a contract dispute.

“Respectfully, Washington, you were a dumpster fire for years,” Orlovsky told the panel. “You were a laughingstock. The only thing good about your organization was that young man. Every year, he did it. Year after year after year, for like five or six years, with disaster all around you.”

The Commanders surprised the NFL last season with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and a new coaching staff led by Dan Quinn. They made it to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since winning the Super Bowl in 1991, showing promise for the future.

McLaurin, a third-round pick in 2019, has been a vital player for Washington. With his contract up after this season, he is seeking an extension to stay with the team.

Despite his contributions, the franchise reportedly does not want to pay McLaurin top receiver money, unlike other players in the league. Orlovsky believes McLaurin is essential for the team’s success in 2025.

“If you don’t have him, you erase everything that you did last year,” Orlovsky said. “Everything that you did. You need him. Give me receivers that impact winning as much or more than Terry McLaurin.”

McLaurin has consistently performed well, totaling over 1,000 yards in each of his last five seasons. He is a key player for the Commanders’ offense.

McLaurin has yet to practice with his teammates as he awaits a new contract. Orlovsky believes that if McLaurin is not on the field in 2025, the offense will suffer.

In a recent development, a new study has found that coffee may have the potential to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Lisbon, found that older adults who drank coffee on a regular basis were less likely to develop Alzheimer’s compared to those who did not consume coffee.

The researchers analyzed data from over 1,500 participants and found that those who drank 3-5 cups of coffee per day had a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The study also found that the benefits of coffee were not limited to any specific type of coffee, as both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee showed similar results.

While more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between coffee consumption and Alzheimer’s disease, these findings are promising. Coffee is already known for its potential health benefits, such as reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. This study adds to the growing body of research supporting the positive effects of coffee on brain health.

It’s important to note that while coffee may have potential benefits, moderation is key. Drinking excessive amounts of coffee can have negative effects on health, such as increased heart rate and anxiety. As always, it’s best to consult with a healthcare provider before making any significant changes to your diet.
