Daughter’s Tearful Eulogy for Slain Blackstone Executive Mother

During a funeral service, the daughter of Wesley LePatner, a Blackstone executive who was tragically shot to death in the lobby of her New York City office building, delivered a heartfelt eulogy as her mother was laid to rest. 

“My mom was my rock,” the 14-year-old shared with the crowd at Central Synagogue in Midtown Manhattan, as reported by the New York Post. 

LePatner was a victim of a shooting incident in the lobby of 345 Park Avenue, where a man opened fire, resulting in the deaths of four individuals before taking his own life.

The teenager expressed her disbelief, stating, “I never expected this to happen at 14. It feels like a dream that I wish was just a joke.”

The grieving husband, Evan LePatner, reflected on the loss and the impact of his wife’s absence, saying, “There’s a huge, gaping Mount Everest-sized hole in my life right now.”

LePatner held the position of chief executive officer at Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, according to the company’s website.

LePatner’s father shared memories of his daughter, recalling her intelligence and presence from the moment she was born.

LePatner was also remembered by UJA-Federation of New York board member Merryl Tisch, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch’s mother, as a dear friend.

Services were held to honor the other victims of the tragic incident, including NYPD Police Officer Didarul Islam, security guard Aland Etienne, and a Rudin employee.
