DOJ files complaint against Judge Boasberg for Trump remarks

The Department of Justice has filed a complaint alleging misconduct by US District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg. The complaint, written by Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Chief of Staff Chad Mizelle, was addressed to the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Sri Srinivasan.

The complaint was filed at the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi. It alleges that Judge Boasberg made improper public comments about President Donald J. Trump, which undermined the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.

Judge Boasberg is presiding over a case involving the deportation of migrants to El Salvador. He has criticized DOJ lawyers for not following his orders. President Trump has also criticized Judge Boasberg.

The complaint details two occasions where Judge Boasberg allegedly made comments that undermine the integrity of the judiciary. The DOJ is asking for an investigation into Judge Boasberg’s conduct.

This is the second time the Bondi DOJ has filed a complaint against a federal judge. In late February, the DOJ filed a complaint about US District Judge Ana Reyes.

News of the complaint comes as the Trump administration has criticized judges who have blocked some of Trump’s executive orders. Judge Boasberg has been a target of Trump’s criticism due to his rulings on deportation cases.

His emergency order to block the deportation of Venezuelan nationals sparked legal challenges. The Supreme Court ruled that the deportations violated migrants’ due process rights under the U.S. Constitution.

The complaint against Judge Boasberg focuses on his behavior and attempts to undermine public confidence in the judiciary. It comes at a time when he could have a say in a major class action case involving former CECOT migrants.
