Ellen DeGeneres is keeping the door open for another talk show opportunity in the future.
During a recent conversation with broadcaster Richard Bacon, the 67-year-old former talk show host expressed her nostalgia for hosting her own show. However, she acknowledged that the traditional talk show format may not be as viable in today’s digital age.
“I would love to do that again, but I feel like people’s viewing habits have shifted with the rise of smartphones and the abundance of entertainment options,” she shared with Bacon.
Since relocating to England in November 2024, DeGeneres has been taking her time to carefully consider her next career move. While uncertain about her future endeavors, she emphasized her desire for new experiences and fun.
The comedian hosted “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for 19 seasons from 2003 to 2022 before its conclusion amid allegations of a toxic work environment in July 2020.
Reflecting on the challenges she faced, DeGeneres admitted that the situation was “unpleasant” but remained optimistic about her future career path.
Regarding her decision to move to the English countryside, she revealed that it was influenced by the outcome of the 2024 election in the United States. DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, found solace in England’s peaceful environment and simpler way of life.
“We love it here. Portia brought her horses, and I have my chickens. We even had sheep for a brief period,” she shared.
