The Dallas Cowboys are a renowned sports franchise that continues to be a topic of discussion. However, former sports columnist and longtime TV commentator Michael Wilbon believes that the hype surrounding “America’s Team” should be moderated.
Back in their prime, the Cowboys, with three Super Bowl titles in the early 1990s, were famously known as “America’s Team.” The team also clinched two titles in the 1970s and boasted rosters filled with star players.
Despite their success in the past, the Cowboys have struggled to achieve significant victories since winning the Super Bowl in the 1995 season. The team hasn’t made it to a conference championship since that time.

However, the lack of on-field success has not prevented the national media from keeping the team in the spotlight. Wilbon suggested that Dallas tends to fade into irrelevance when January arrives.

Wilbon also mentioned that he pays little attention to what Jerry Jones, the team owner, says during his frequent news conferences.
Despite the Cowboys’ prolonged absence from the top of the NFL, Jerry Jones has excelled in the business realm. Forbes estimated the Cowboys’ value at $10.1 billion in 2024, making them the most valuable sports team globally.

Jerry Jones is currently in the midst of negotiating a contract extension with Micah Parsons’ representatives. The decision on offering Parsons a long-term deal that would potentially make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL is under consideration.
Jones faced fans chanting “re-sign Parsons” at training camp, drawing parallels to a similar situation with star receiver CeeDee Lamb last year.
The Cowboys wrapped up the previous season with a 7-10 record.
