Fatal dog attack at San Bernardino park results in woman’s death; 14 dogs seized

A woman, aged 51, tragically lost her life, and another individual sustained severe injuries following a brutal dog attack at a park in San Bernardino, California, on Thursday.

Reports indicate that San Bernardino law enforcement responded to an incident at Perris Hill Park after receiving reports of a dog attack. Upon arrival, officers encountered multiple dogs, possibly strays, and a woman who had been bitten and was injured, as reported by FOX 11 and the Los Angeles Times.

“The scene was initially chaotic due to the presence of multiple dogs,” stated Sgt. Chris Gray of the San Bernardino Police Department, according to the LA Times.

As one officer was aiding the injured woman, two additional dogs emerged from nearby bushes and charged towards them, as per FOX 11.

In response, the officer had to shoot one of the dogs, a pit bull, to prevent further harm, according to the LA Times.

Another victim, identified as Teodora Mendoza, aged 51, was found approximately 30 yards away with severe injuries believed to be caused by a dog attack. Tragically, she later passed away at a local hospital, as reported by FOX 11.

San Bernardino Animal Control, in collaboration with the San Bernardino Police Department, removed a total of 14 dogs from the park, according to the LA Times.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the number of dogs involved in the attacks and their origin, as confirmed by FOX 11.

The San Bernardino Police Department has not yet responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
