EXCLUSIVE: Members of the Hispanic community residing in Democrat-controlled areas express frustration with sanctuary policies that they believe are enabling criminal illegal aliens to exploit their neighborhoods, as per statements from a Latino congressman from Colorado.
Despite efforts by some Democrats and media outlets to depict Hispanics as universally against President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, Rep. Gabe Evans, R-Colo., revealed that the situation in his district tells a different story.
Both Colorado and Denver have enacted sanctuary policies that restrict collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE and other federal immigration agencies. This, according to Evans, has resulted in a noticeable surge in crime and violence within his community.
Earlier this year, former acting DEA Administrator Derek Maltz stated that sanctuary policies had transformed Colorado into a hub for some of the most violent criminals in the country, including the leadership of Tren de Aragua.
Tren de Aragua, also known as “TdA,” is a dangerous Venezuelan criminal group that has been implicated in high-profile crimes across America, such as the murder of nursing student Laken Riley and the seizure of an apartment building in Aurora, Colorado.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Evans, a young Latino and ex-police officer representing a district just north of Denver, reiterated that sanctuary policies in his area are wreaking havoc on both Hispanic residents and businesses.
Evans emphasized the personal impact of sanctuary policies as the sole Latino member of the Colorado delegation in Congress.
He recounted discussions with local Hispanic business owners who are deeply troubled by the presence of criminal elements in their communities and the resulting harm to their businesses.
One business owner shared with Evans the significant financial losses he incurred due to illegal immigrant crime during the Biden administration.
Evans stressed the urgency of addressing criminal elements within the Hispanic community and highlighted the strong support for cracking down on such individuals.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to the office of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston for comment but received no response at the time of publication.
