The Arkansas Department of Public Safety announced an arrest on Wednesday in connection with the tragic killing of a married couple at Devil’s Den State Park in front of their children. Special Agents from the Arkansas State Police have apprehended James Andrew McGann, 28, of Springdale, for his alleged involvement in the double homicide that took place on Saturday.
James Andrew McGann is accused of fatally shooting Clinton Brink, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, while they were hiking with their young daughters. The daughters, aged 7 and 9, are now in the care of their family.
McGann is facing two charges of capital murder for his alleged actions. Initially, the police released a composite sketch of the suspect, indicating that he may have sustained an injury during the attack on the couple. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement following McGann’s arrest, commending the efforts of law enforcement in swiftly capturing the suspect.
The FBI provided assistance in the investigation. The arrest brings a sense of comfort and reassurance to the community, as Governor Sanders emphasized the state’s zero tolerance for violent crimes. She urged Arkansans to offer prayers for the victims and gratitude for the dedicated law enforcement personnel involved in the case.
