Jamie Lee Curtis has decided to step away from Hollywood on her own terms.

During a recent interview with The Guardian, the 67-year-old actress discussed her perspective on aging in the entertainment industry and her future career plans.

“I witnessed my parents lose everything that brought them fame, life, and income when the industry turned its back on them at a certain age,” she shared. “I saw them achieve incredible success only to see it slowly fade away until it disappeared. And that’s very painful.”

Having seen her parents’ struggles as they aged in Hollywood, Jamie Lee has taken a proactive approach by stating, “I have been preparing to exit the industry for 30 years.” She mentioned that she has been getting ready to leave in order to avoid experiencing the same hardships as her family.

“I’ve never understood, nor will I, what qualities got me hired that day, but since my first two lines on ‘Quincy’ as a contract player at Universal Studios to this last spectacular creative year some 44 years later, there’s not a day in my professional life that goes by without my being reminded that I am the daughter of movie stars,” she wrote.

Within the same post, she challenged the notion that individuals related to famous figures would lack talent, emphasizing her dedication to her craft and pride in her lineage.
