Terry McLaurin, a two-time Pro Bowler, has requested a trade to another NFL team due to a contract dispute with the Washington Commanders. McLaurin’s decision to seek a trade came after negotiations for a contract extension seemed to hit a roadblock.
While McLaurin has shown up to the Commanders training camp, he has refrained from participating in practice, leading to his placement on the physically unable to perform list.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, expressed his hope to continue playing alongside McLaurin in the upcoming season.
“I anticipate seeing number 17 back on the field soon,” Daniels mentioned in an interview with CBS Sports.
Despite recognizing that contract negotiations are the responsibility of the front office, Daniels remains optimistic about reuniting with McLaurin on the field.

McLaurin had an impressive 2024 season, achieving a career-high 13 touchdown receptions and 1,096 receiving yards, which earned him All-Pro recognition for the first time in his career.
In addition to being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Daniels also secured a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Since being drafted by Washington in 2019, McLaurin has consistently surpassed 1,000 receiving yards each season, except for his rookie year.
McLaurin signed a three-year contract with Washington in 2022, which is set to expire after the 2025 season.
