During a training camp practice, New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields had to be taken off the field on a cart due to a suspected lower leg injury.
Fields, aged 26, recently signed a two-year contract worth $40 million to take over for Aaron Rodgers.
While being carted off, Fields had his cleat removed from his right foot, as reported by SNY.

Fields played in 10 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, starting six of them. The team had a 4-2 record in his starts, during which he completed 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception.
Fields also made an impact in the run game, rushing 62 times for 189 yards and scoring five rushing touchdowns last season.
Despite his performance, the Steelers decided to bench Fields after six games in favor of Russell Wilson.

The Jets signed Fields to be their starting quarterback after parting ways with Rodgers, who had two lackluster seasons with the team.
Garrett Wilson, the team’s top wide receiver, previously played college football alongside Fields at Ohio State, where they achieved significant success together.
Aside from Fields, the Jets have three other quarterbacks on their roster: Tyrod Taylor, Adrian Martinez, and Brady Cook. If Fields is sidelined for an extended period, Taylor is a suitable candidate to step in as the starting quarterback.

Taylor, aged 35, has played in the NFL for 14 seasons, starting 58 games with a record of 28-28-1. Last season with the Jets, Taylor appeared in two games, completing 17–22 passes for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
In 2023, Taylor started five games for the New York Giants, posting a 2-3 record while completing 64.4% of his passes for 1,341 yards, with five touchdowns and three interceptions.
