Julie Chrisley is facing challenges post her time in prison. In a recent episode of the “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast, the “Chrisley Knows Best” star, 52, disclosed that she developed a serious health condition during her 28-month stay at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
“I have a lung condition from my time in prison,” she mentioned to her husband Todd Chrisley, who was also incarcerated in a federal prison in Pensacola, Florida, on bank fraud and tax evasion charges before being pardoned by President Donald Trump in May.
Julie claimed she was exposed to “asbestos” while in prison and stated, “You will probably notice me at certain times, trying to get a breath.” Although Todd noted that her condition has not been confirmed by a doctor yet, Julie has an upcoming appointment with a pulmonologist.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons stated to US Weekly that they take their responsibility to protect the individuals in their custody seriously and prioritize safety.
The Chrisleys’ daughter Savannah, who played a key role in securing her parents’ pardons, previously spoke out about the inadequate prison conditions. She highlighted issues like extreme temperatures, black mold, asbestos, lead-based paint, and substandard food and water quality.
Last week, Todd and Julie confessed that life outside prison is tougher than their time behind bars. They shared their experience on their podcast, revealing that the physical conditions in prison were challenging, but the emotional and psychological toll of daily life post-prison is even harder.
Julie, a breast cancer survivor, emphasized how prison forced her to focus on herself rather than family drama. She expressed that being away from her kids made it easier to establish a routine focused on her physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being.
The Chrisleys, convicted of federal bank fraud and tax evasion, have consistently maintained their innocence. They were granted pardons by President Donald Trump in May, leading to their release from federal prison.
