Kelly Clarkson is being honest about her approach to dating.
“Dating can be very challenging, which is why I choose not to,” the 43-year-old singer shared during a Studio Sessions show in Las Vegas on July 20.
“I’m like, ‘It’s hard enough as it is.’ Add a spotlight and it turns into a…disaster,” Clarkson added, as seen in a video shared by a fan on TikTok.

Clarkson has been single since 2021, following her split from Brandon Blackstock.
Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 after being introduced by his father, Narvel Blackstock, who owns the management company that represented Clarkson starting in 2007.
The couple filed for divorce in 2020 and finalized it in 2022. Clarkson was granted primary physical custody of their two children but was ordered to pay Blackstock $45,000 a month in child support.
Clarkson is now based in New York as a single mother.

The talk show host previously cited her hectic schedule as a single mother of two kids, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
“I will say, I’m not not looking and I’m not looking,” Clarkson told the “Today” show on May 6.
“I’m very busy. You get this as a mom,” she explained to host Jenna Bush Hager. “I’ve got to focus right now. My kids’ schedule, I feel like, is busier than mine. I’m running from my show to baseball practice. It’s a lot.”

The singer has found solace in her mother, who also raised her as a single parent.
“My mom always tells me, ‘Look, I was a single mom. I didn’t have everything figured out. They’re going to be fine. You turned out fine,’” Clarkson shared.
“I am just trying to be there as much for them, and we’re a cute little unit.”
